These are simple tricks to help you get the most out of your S Pen. And the best part is that they are easy to master. So here are the best Galaxy S22 Ultra S Pen features and settings. Let’s get started. But before that,

Check out these cool Samsung Galaxy S22 tips and tricks Here are the best wireless chargers for the Samsung Galaxy S22 series smartphones

1. Take Selective Screenshots

Do you hate the process of taking a screenshot and then cropping out the unnecessary part? If yes, you will love the Smart Select setting of the S Pen. This feature lets you save only the necessary portion. It works just about anywhere, whether it’s an online post, phone’s home page, or an app. To enable selective screenshots, take out the S Pen and tap on the Smart Select from the menu on the right. Now, select the portion which you want to save. Once done, tap on the Save icon, and that’s about it!

The phone will save new screenshots in the phone’s gallery.

2. Take Quick Notes

Did you know that you can take quick notes even when the phone is locked? Named Screen off memo, it lets you jot down short notes without unlocking your phone. All you need to do is pull out the S Pen and start writing.

However, you need to ensure that the setting is enabled before you do so. To do so, head over to Settings > Advanced features and then to S Pen.

Once in, toggle the switch next to the Screen off memo option.

3. Create Quick Notes

Another nifty Notes feature lets you bring up the Notes app anytime you want. For that, just press S Pen button and tap twice on your phone’s screen. To make sure that this nifty feature is enabled, head over to S Pen settings (under Advanced features) and toggle the switch for Quick notes creation.

4. S Pen Unlock

If you have an exceptionally short Screenout Time, your phone will lock more frequently while you’re reading something. While Face Unlock makes things easier, you can unlock your Galaxy S22 Ultra with the S Pen. To enable this feature, head over to the S Pen settings and toggle the switch for S Pen Unlock. So the next time your phone locks you out (and if you have the S Pen in your hand), press the S Pen button, and your phone will unlock automatically. And trust me, it’s a wonderful feature to have.

Of course, there are some security measures in place. For instance, your phone won’t unlock automatically after the S Pen gets disconnected. So if your phone has been lying ideal for about 2 minutes or more, it won’t unlock even when you press the S Pen button.

5. Shuffle Between the Camera Modes Like a Pro

Pressing the S Pen button lets you click selfies and photos with ease. With the new iteration, you can also switch between the various modes with just a simple swipe of the S Pen. For that, you’ll need to enable Air Actions under S Pen settings. Once you locate it, scroll down and tap on the option for Camera to see all the gestures.

Now, you need to open the Camera app and test them all. Our favorite is the Zoom in/out gesture. What about you? The only restraint is that you will need some time to master these gestures.

6. Reduce an App to a Thumbnail

If you often need a continuous reminder about a pending task, then the Glance function helps. It reduces an app page or an app to a thumbnail which stays on the homepage until you open or remove it manually. As we noted above, it acts as a constant reminder. Or, you can also use it to quickly reference stuff between two web pages or apps. You simply have to hover over the thumbnail, and when done, remove the S Pen and it will switch back to the thumbnail mode. To reduce an app to a thumbnail, open the item (be it the gallery or a web page) and take out the S Pen from its nest. Next, tap on the Air Command menu and tap on Glance.

The page or the app will be immediately turned into a thumbnail. Next time you want to open it up, hover the S Pen over it, and the app will open to it directly. We used this function to remind us of pending stuff like drafting emails, reading articles, etc. The only limitation is that you can have one glance. So if you take a second glance, the first one will disappear.

To remove a glance manually, press and hold it, and drag it to the Remove option at the top of the screen.

7. Convert on the Go

Another cool Galaxy S22 Ultra S Pen feature is its built-in Translate function to translate words on the go. One of the advantages of this method is that you needn’t switch between Google Translate and the app/page you are currently using. You can translate it right away. All you need to do is tap on the Translate option on the Air Command menu and choose the language. Once done, tap on a word that you wish to translate, and that’s it.

You can use it to convert whole paragraphs. For that, tap on the T-icon at the top, select the paragraph, and let the phone do its magic.

At the same time, you can also interchange the language by tapping on the Switch icon.

8. Customize the Menu

The S Pen menu comes with plenty of options. However, if you do not use them all, you may remove some apps from the menu. Thankfully, removing the apps and managing the apps is easy and simple. To do so, tap on the little Settings icon of the Shortcut menu and select Shortcuts. Once done, add and remove the apps as per your requirement.

And the next time you pull out the S Pen, you will have a customized shortcut menu staring at you.

Ink In

Apart from the various tips and tricks, the S Pen is also a great fidget. However, if you take it out for a spin, do not forget to turn on the ‘Warn if S Pen is left behind’ option.
