Of course, a lot of people only follow the four big tournaments – the Grand Slams – but the truth is that there are other important tournaments going on non-stop no matter which time of the year you pick (except for the holidays in December of course). Before though, it was kind of hard and time consuming to keep track of every player and every result. But thanks to the ATP/WTA Live app for iPhone, doing so is much easier and convenient. Even better, the app not only follows the top players and big tournaments, but just about everything related to the game. Let’s take a look at what it has to offer for the tennis aficionado. To start, the app is divided into four main sections that take you to entirely different kinds of information about the current tennis calendar. On the Rankings section, as expected, you can see the current rankings (updated every weekend, as the official one does) of the all the top world tennis players in all singles, doubles and doubles team categories showing their current points.
Tapping on the Calendar section takes you to yearly calendar, showing you all the major upcoming events for every month including starting and ending dates. Tournaments are also labeled by their importance and by the number of points the winning player gets (250, 500 or 1000 points).
In addition to that, you can use the top of the screen to see only the women’s tournaments, the men’s tournaments or the Challenger ones (more on that later).
The Challenger section covers all current tournaments for the ATP Challenger Tour, the second highest level of tennis competition and where players earn ranking points to become eligible for the main ATP World Tour tournaments.
Lastly, we have the most important part of the app, the Tour Events section, where you can find all the information related to the current ongoing tournaments.
This main section in itself contains four sub-sections, where you can see the results for the current matches as they occur and updated live. In similar fashion, you can also see the results for completed matches, as well as extremely detailed information and statistics on all the matches of each tournament, both completed and live ones.
Additionally, you can check out the detailed schedule for all upcoming matches, as well as the draws for all the current tournament’s categories, which provide you with a great overview of who might play against who in the later stages of the current tournament.
All in all, even if you are marginally interested in tennis, you owe it to yourself to have this app on your iPhone or iPod Touch. It is free to get and, if you are just starting following the sport, you will learn a lot about it. The above article may contain affiliate links which help support Guiding Tech.
