Perhaps you prefer the old-fashioned way of bookmarking the webpages that you want to visit on your other devices. Or you find the tiny ‘Send’ icon that pops up on the address bar whenever you click on it a distraction. Or perhaps there’s a cheeky family member who keeps pestering you with tabs. Whatever the reason, you can disable ‘Send to Your Devices’ on any of your devices should you want to quite easily. So without any further ado, let’s get started with the desktop version of Chrome (Windows and macOS) and then look into the Android and iOS versions of the web browser, respectively.

Disable Send to Your Devices on Desktop

Disabling ‘Send to Your Devices’ in Chrome on a Windows or macOS device requires that you switch off the Open Tabs sync setting. Doing so will remove the ‘Send’ icon present on the address bar. Furthermore, you also won’t see the ‘Send to Your Devices’ options on the context menu when right-clicking webpages. However, turning off this sync setting will also prevent you from seeing any of the active tabs on your other devices when pointing toward the History option on the Chrome menu. If that isn’t an issue, then here are the exact steps that you must follow to disable ‘Send to Your Devices’ in Chrome. Step 1: Open the Chrome menu (click the three-dots to the upper-right corner of the window), and then click Settings. Step 2: Click the Sync and Google Services option underneath the People section. Step 3: Click the option labeled Manage Sync. Step 4: Turn off the switch next to Open Tabs. Note: That should disable ‘Send to Your Devices.’ Do note that the device may still show up on your other devices when initiating ‘Send to Your Devices,’ but any tabs that you send will not show up.

Disable Send to Your Devices on Android

Just like on the desktop, you must turn off the Open Tabs sync setting to disable ‘Send to Your Devices’ in Chrome on your Android smartphone. But once again, turning off this setting will also prevent you from seeing open tabs on your other devices whenever you tap Recent Tabs on the Chrome menu. Step 1: Open the Chrome menu (tap three-dot icon on the upper-right corner of the screen), and then tap Settings. On the Settings screen that shows up, tap Sync and Google Services. Step 2: Tap Manage Sync. On the list of sync settings that show up, uncheck the box next to Open Tabs. Note: Now when launch Chrome again, you should no longer see the ‘Send to Your Devices’ option whenever you attempt to share a webpage in Chrome. Furthermore, webpages sent from other devices will also not show up.

Disable Send to Your Devices on iOS

On Chrome for iOS, turning off the Open Tabs sync setting will disable the ‘Send to Your Devices’ option on the Chrome Share Sheet and stop links sent from other devices from showing up. As a reminder, this will also prevent you from seeing active tabs on your other devices whenever you visit the Recent Tabs section on the Chrome tab switcher. Step 1: Open the Chrome menu (tap three-dot icon to the upper-right corner of the iPad or the lower-right corner on the iPhone). Next, tap Settings. Step 2: Tap the option labeled Sync and Google Services Step 3: Tap Manage Sync. Step 4: Turn off the switch next to Open Tabs. Note: Tap Done to finish disabling ‘Send to Your Devices’ in Chrome for iOS.
