The neckband on both the RHA MA650 Wireless and the OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2 is part of its design. With it, you can leave your worries of misplacing or dropping them. And thanks to their short wires, they don’t tangle much. Best of both worlds? I bet. The good thing about the Bullets Wireless 2 and the MA650 is that they are in the same price segment. And these reasons were enough to pit them against each other and find out which wireless earphones are the best for you. So, what are we waiting for? Let’s get started.

Design

At $99, OnePlus’ Bullets Wireless 2 don’t feel cheap. The wires and the neckband both are wrapped in soft-touch silicone that is not only easy to touch and but also makes them tangle-free. Furthermore, the ear tips are a mix of red and gunmetal, which makes them a tad different from the usual black earphones. The color scheme is subtle. However, it’s neither too plain that the buds will fade away in the background. When it comes to the design of the ear tips, let me tell you that you won’t find any fancy fins. The company ships three sets of ear tips with the earphones and you’d need to find the right one for a snug fit (and an immersive sound experience). There’s an inline remote with the volume controls, mic and a multifunctional button (play/pause/skip) at the center. Apart from this, OnePlus’ Bullets Wireless 2 earphones are supposed to be splash & water resistant. However, if I were you, I wouldn’t test this feature out as the company recommends not to subject them to ‘significant amounts of liquid.’ The compartments housing the battery and the Bluetooth are neither too heavy nor too bulky. So, even if you were to do strenuous exercises or go out for a run, these terminals won’t be a much bother to you. Interestingly, the RHA MA650 also has the same neckband design with a nice solid build. The rubbery cabling is pleasing smooth and does its job of keeping the wires from entangling. Plus, the ear tips and the inline remote are clad in aluminum thus boosting the look of the earphones a bit. This style sits best if you buy the black variant as the contrast comes out really well. The shape of the ear tips is nothing complicated. However, the best thing about the RHA MA650 is that the company ships plenty of ear tips with it. Apart from the standard silicone ear tips, you’ll get two flange and form flange ear tips. The compartments housing the battery are a bit thicker, compared to its OnePlus counterparts. Though they sit really well, they can bounce around while playing, thus distracting you in the long run. The RHA MA650 wireless earphones have splash & sweat resistance and are IPX4 certified.

Bluetooth and Connectivity

Bluetooth connectivity is one of the key components of any wireless earphones, and it can make or break your experience. Imagine a scenario where the audio is lagging by 4 seconds. Bummer! When it comes to the RHA MA650 earphones, users have praised them for their impressive connectivity and lag-free experience. The pair supports aptX codec, thus giving you a near CD like quality over Bluetooth. Do note that for aptX to work, both the source and the destination device needs to support it. However, the feature that takes the cake is the nifty NFC support. You just need to tap an NFC-enabled device against the left side of the neckband, and the connection will be set up. When it comes to Bluetooth connectivity, the OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2 earphones deliver a great lag-free experience. I have been using these ever since they were launched and had no issues with connectivity. In fact, just recently I watched half a season of Netflix’s You, and never did I face a single drop or significant delay in audio transmission. The Bullets Wireless 2 support aptX HD thus giving you an improved clarity when it comes to the audio.

Battery Life and Fast Charging

Well, OnePlus is generally known for their blazing fast charging speeds, both on their phones and audio accessories. And it doesn’t take long to top up the Bullets Wireless 2. Charging the Bullets Wireless 2 for 10 minutes is enough to give you playback time of around 10 hours. Plus, OnePlus claims that the device can deliver up to 14 hours of playback time. The best thing is that it comes with a USB Type-C charging port, meaning that you can use the same wire to charge your phone and your earphone. On the other hand, the RHA MA650 has a battery life of around 12 hours. As per most folks, RHA lives up to their claims. Also, what is amazing about their headphones is a neat LED battery status indicator and the same also appears on your phone’s status bar. These too come with a USB Type-C charging port. However, you won’t find fast charging in this one. But be assured that the speed is quite decent. An hour worth of charging will yield around 80%.

Sound Quality

At $99, you can’t expect the world out of earphones. For the price, both the OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2 and the RHA MA650 sound excellent and quite worthy while being wireless earphones pair. At the time of writing, the RHA MA650 had a rating of 3.8 stars out of 5, with 45% five-star reviews. As we mentioned above, the OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2 to sound great. However, at some point, it tends to under-emphasize the lows of songs. The only issue which I had with these earphones was that the earbuds need to fit really well for you to get the complete feel of the audio output. But once it fits well, you do not need to worry about outside noise creeping in to distract you. Yep, the noise isolation is superb.

Which One Should You Buy?

While wired earphones have upped their quality and design by several folds over the years, you’d still need to consider a lot of things before you can buy them. Things like the shape of the earbud to the Bluetooth codec and sound quality plays a huge role in determining your whole experience. Both the OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2 and the RHA MA650 are modern earphones. Right from the design to the build, surely do not disappoint. The end terminals on the OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2 are sleek and light. Plus, the connectivity is great. But the cherry on the cake is its fast charging speed. Need to hit the gym quickly, just plug and leave them for 5 minutes, and you should be sorted. Next up: Are you looking for earphones with long battery life? Check out the best ones below.
