Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger
The upgrade that Tesla has incorporated here is substantial. To put it in perspective, the only two production cars that are faster are the LaFerrari and the Porsche 918 Spyder. Not only are these made by companies that have been making cars for eons, but also specialize in making really fast cars. Tesla said it best in their statement – If that hasn’t got your attention yet, then let’s also talk mileage. Folks who prefer their cars running on traditional fuel usually argue that their vehicles can run 400 miles on a full tank. With the P100D now going 315 miles (or 613 kms on the EU cycle) on a full charge, this car should appeal to these buyers more. The larger battery pack will also be available for the Model X, making it the world’s quickest SUV.
Elon Musk: Eyeing the Future
It’s no secret that whatever project Elon Musk has undertaken has been about the future. Whether it be an all-electric vehicle that can be autonomous, or building a company for Space exploration. At the launch of this new model he said that improving the battery capacity by a little over 10% was a major challenge. He also recognizes that the P100D with a base price of $134,500 is not cheap, but hey, when compared to the almost million-dollar tag for the LaFerrari and Porsche 918 Spyder, it’s still cheap.
