In the box you will find the Redmi Note 4G with the USB cable, the 3100mAh removable battery, with a 2 Amp charger. You will also find a warranty card and a quick walkthrough of the MIUI software this phone comes with. There are no headphones in the box and you might have to purchase them as an additional accessory.
Build Quality
The Redmi Note 4G is pretty decent when it comes to build quality. It resembles its 3G variant. While the stunning 5.5 inch display looks huge and makes it a phablet, the removable plastic back cover can sometimes feel slippery to the point where things can really get out of hand. The three capacitive touch buttons are embedded in the body with the front-facing 5 mega pixel camera at the top. At the back, we have a 13 MP camera with LED flash and speakers at the bottom. The back panel is removable wherein you will find the SIM and SD card slot with the battery well for a 3100mAh battery. At the top we have the 3.5 mm audio jack and noise cancellation microphone. At the bottom we have the micro USB charging point with mic. On the right we have the power button and the volume rocker buttons.
Display
The device comes with a 5.5 inch IPS LCD Display at 220 PPI. The screen supports 1280×570 resolution with vibrant display. It also has a good viewing angle, and I don’t see any compromises on the display quality even at this price. One good thing about the display is that the lowest brightness level can go quite low when compared to other devices. Regarding the screen size, being a 5.5 inch display it could get uncomfortable for people with small hands.
Processor, Battery and Benchmark
The device is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon Processor. The hardware comes with 2GB RAM and 8GB internal storage with only 5.6 GB left for users. The device is based on 32 bit architecture and has an ADRENO 305 rendering engine. The test score on the AnTuTu benchmark was around 22000, which is a decent score for a device in this range. The device is powered by a 3100 mAh battery, which is one of its strong points. In my personal experience the battery lasted for around a day with the 3G and the Wi-Fi switched on, with no power saver apps running in the background. The device is boxed with a 2 amp charger, which gives a faster charge. As a part of MIUI there’s an embedded power management app that manages the battery and gives the extra boost.
Gaming
With a 1.6 GHz Qualcomm processor you can run any high-end game without lag. However, I did notice a bit of heating on the upper segment of the device while playing Asphalt 8 for around 20 minutes. The vibrant display gives the overall experience a boost. The only setback is the limited internal memory of just 8 GB. As most of the high-end games require a data file on the internal storage, only a limited number of games can be installed at a given time.
Camera
The Redmi Note 4G comes with a 13 MP rear camera with a 5 MP front camera. Like any other MIUI device, the camera app has both basic and advanced settings. While you can use the camera to point and shoot, you can also change the advanced settings when required. Here are some of the photos shot with the camera.
For selfie enthusiasts, the 5 MP is like icing on the cake. Using the volume rockers as shutter buttons, you can easily take high resolution selfies with the device. Talking about the video quality, the device supports 1080p recording. Ideally speaking, the Redmi camera is one of the best you can get at this price tag.
The Software
